University 150 has been such an amazing class. It has taught me so much about writing and my writing style. I honestly think that every freshman should be required to take this class, because this class makes college easer and more efficient. This class also helps students boost their confidence levels.
Now that the semester is just about over I have reflected on how my writing skills have evolved over the semester. When I first started in university 150, my writing was good but my grammar was terrible. I would have a good story line; although, my sentences did not flow smoothly. I did not use connectives to improve my sentences therefore, my sentences appeared to be child like. In addition to that, I would place commas and semi colons in the wrong places and I had a lot of comma splices. Now when I write my grammar is not perfect yet it has gotten tremendously better. I do not make as many mistakes of placing commas and or semi colons in the wrong places.
I truly believe that every freshman should be required to take University 150 because this class helps student develop more as a writer. By students taking this class they will have an even better understanding of how to properly write a formal essay. Even if a student feel that his or her writing is excellent, this class will help them become even better at writing. This class will also help students become more confident in their writing. Students will gain confidence because they will not only know what the grammar rules are but they will understand how to use them with practice. This will allow grammar rules to become automatic to students when writing their papers. Also, their writing will be smoother and more advanced.
University 150 has been such a blessing to me this semester. I have seen my writing improve and I know after taking this class I am well prepared for English 110.
