Cybersecurity Training & Simulations

Overview

As part of my continuous learning and professional development in cybersecurity, I have completed multiple virtual internships and job simulations to gain hands-on experience in various cybersecurity disciplines. These experiences include:

  • TryHackMe’s Cyber Security 101 – Hands-on training in offensive and defensive security.
  • AIG’s Shields Up: Cybersecurity (Forage) – Cyber threat analysis and incident response simulation.
  • Mastercard’s Cybersecurity Simulation (Forage) – Security awareness and threat identification experience.

Key Areas Covered

TryHackMe: Cyber Security 101

Through this interactive learning path, I gained practical experience in:

  • Computer Networking & Cryptography – Understanding encryption techniques and secure communication protocols.
  • Operating Systems Security – Fundamentals of Windows, Active Directory, and Linux security.
  • Offensive Security & System Exploitation – Ethical hacking techniques, penetration testing tools, and common attack vectors.
  • Defensive Security & Threat Detection – Security monitoring, incident response, and threat mitigation strategies.

AIG’s Shields Up: Cybersecurity (Forage)

As part of this cyber threat analysis simulation for AIG’s Cyber Defense Unit, I:

  • Stayed updated on CISA publications to analyze current cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Researched and assessed reported vulnerabilities, demonstrating strong analytical skills in cybersecurity.
  • Drafted clear and concise security advisory emails, guiding teams on vulnerability remediation best practices.
  • Utilized Python scripting for ethical hacking, writing a script to brute-force decryption keys, simulating a real-world scenario of preventing ransom payments.

Mastercard’s Cybersecurity Simulation (Forage)

In this cybersecurity awareness and threat identification simulation, I:

  • Served as an analyst on Mastercard’s Security Awareness Team, helping to identify and report security threats.
  • Conducted phishing threat analysis, identifying and mitigating social engineering risks.
  • Analyzed security vulnerabilities across business units, determining areas requiring enhanced security training.
  • Developed and implemented security awareness training courses, ensuring employees adhered to best cybersecurity practices.

Hands-on Experience

These virtual training experiences provided me with practical exposure to cybersecurity operations, enhancing my ability to assess threats, perform security research, and implement remediation strategies effectively.

Next Steps

I plan to continue building my skills in cyber defense, security monitoring, and security awareness training to further align with my career goals in the field.
