Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
An Effective Reflection Is
- Coming into this Spanish class, I thought it was going to be terrible, but because of my comprehension skills and because of my previous teacher’s lack of patience. Thankfully that wasn’t the case; and I had a amazing professor who cared and motivated me to keep going. I had a lot of weaknesses, but my biggest weakness was pronunciations. Those words had me in shackles.
- I won’t lie, and am still kind of bad with pronunciations, but what I did to work on that flaw was to study every chance I had. For example, I was still using the Spanish alphabet 3 months after my professor had already gone over it. I tried my best to study everyday but you things happen, but I still made progress by saying our vocabulary words over and over again until I properly say the correct words.
- Learning a new language is hard, but it only gets worse if you don’t try

Exploring Culture
Learning about Hispanic/Latino culture is very critical when learning Spanish because you can learn what to do and what not to do when speaking Spanish. Learning Spanish is a gift and you’re invited to participate, so it’s very important not to be disrespectful at all costs because it’s like a slap in the face kind of to native Spanish speakers. For example, Like when learning about the tu and usted form and who to use it on. Basically what I grasp from that review, is it better to be on the safe side and use usted to people you don’t know and elder, and most definitely coworkers, and it’s ok to use tu on people you know very well. And I said safe side because it ranges with different Spanish-speaking countries, for example, like Colombia commonly uses tu while Cuba uses usted more commonly.

Interpersonal Communication
I’m gonna be real about this. I was very confused when we had oral spontaneous activities at the beginning of the semester. Also sat there and looked very stupid and uneducated. But then I realize sitting there and not trying is worse than trying and making a mistake, because you can always grow from trial and error, but you can’t grow without trying. Like I’m gonna keep it real I’m not 100% good on Spanish comprehension but I’m because now because the oral activities/assignment allow me to heard the same words come out different mouth and how to recognize that word even if it not Spanish properly.
Presentational Speaking
Presentational Speaking was hard for me at first because I was very camera shy and had really bad anxiety and through knowing that I had to complete this assignment to learn Spanish and pass complete. Gave me a lot of more motivation like it used to take me hours to do a 1-2 or 2-5 minute interview/review but as the semester went on i studied more and practice pronunciation and help me take less time and be more confident in my work show emotions when i speak instead of sounding like a robot.
Presentational Writing
The beginning of writing was hard because it was hard remembering things like words and verbs, and then it became even harder too, when I learned about conjugating words but I gotten the I better understanding of now so it’s easier and I feel really accomplished through seeing how I grown from the beginning of the class to now.
Interpretive Listening
For real this is the thing I struggle with the most and probably because I have terrible active listening skills. However, I think majority of the time I get a good understanding, not a complete one but a good one because I listen out for words I remember really well and I make assumptions of what’s they’re trying to say/ask me
Interpretive Reading
At the beginning and even now for me, reading was very complex for me. Personally I have never been good at reading, even in English, and so in Spanish it makes it 10x harder, and no, I haven’t really found for a solution to the problem, but I will. Also its more of a pronunciation and thing along with a lot of reading comprehension things as ways.
