I am currently in the role of Simulation Technician. I have combined my previous work experience as an Emergency Medical Technician with my Cybersecurity education to make myself a uniquely qualified candidate for this role. I am working to build the medical simulation program for MWHC as a part of their Graduate Medical Education team. Our simulation program will be utilized as an interdisciplinary resource to facilitate high-quality training using cutting-edge technology across the organization. Utilizing a combination of anatomically accurate skills trainers and high-fidelity simulation manikins, we can create safe environments where medical professionals can practice their skills and procedures without risk to human patients. This improves patient outcomes by helping medical professionals achieve increased competence and confidence through repetitive practice of complex skills. Medical manikins are utilized to create realistic scenarios that allow teams of medical professionals to work together to achieve desirable patient outcomes. This is crucial for developing critical thinking and providing a safe environment to make mistakes that can be corrected before treating live patients. My career centers around researching the newest simulation technologies, developing our simulation program, and creating a high-quality learning environment that will improve the quality of healthcare provided to all of our patients.

Previous Employers

LifeCare Medical Transports: 2017 – 2025

I had been employed with LifeCare Medical Transports from March 2017 to May 2025. I have worked in various positions over that time. I started as a Call Taker, and I was promoted quickly to the role of Dispatcher. I have also spent time working with the Operations team as an Emergency Medical Technician and Ambulance Operator. In November of 2022, I was promoted to the role of Communication Supervisor. I managed a team of 15 to 20 call takers and dispatchers during rotating 12-hour shifts. As a team, we were responsible for resource management and dispatching Emergency Medical personnel covering a large portion of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

CarMax: 2012 – 2017

I worked for CarMax as a Reconditioning Associate for over four years. In my time there, I developed many essential skills that I have adopted into my professional skillset. I learned how to create standardized work that uses a documented step-by-step process to ensure consistent results regardless of who is performing the task. I spent over six months working as the Off-Lot Coordinator to ensure all vehicles had any warranty-covered repairs or recalls completed by the appropriate manufacturer’s dealership. This role gave me the opportunity to learn inventory management and exceptional customer service skills. My responsibilities in this role included the transportation of vehicle inventory to the appropriate dealership, coordination with the service writer on site for updates and vehicle pickup, and keeping accurate details for each vehicle in a spreadsheet. I also managed the inventory report for the store where I was employed. This included performing a daily verification that all vehicles electronically recorded in our inventory were also physically present. The role that contributed most to my professional growth was my time as a Subject Matter Expert. I spent one year traveling around the United States to different CarMax locations, training employees how to utilize our processes to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity.

Current Employer Mary Washington HealthCare: 2025 – Present I started working for Mary Washington HealthCare (MWHC) in May 2025.
