I came to ODU as a computer engineer with a minor in computer science. I had always wanted to work with computers\/ electronics since I was a kid. It mostly came from my fascination with Transformers. I mainly wanted to work with the hardware aspect of computer engineering since I never really understood programming and I was not that god at it. I was happy when I found out that there was a focus in computer hardware systems within the major. That was my plan all the way through until recently. After realizing I was struggling in some of the courses, I decided to switch my major to cybersecurity. I decided to switch to cybersecurity because, even though its not computer engineering, I still get to work with computers in some way. I took a few cybersecurity courses and went to some camps when I was in high school and found it somewhat interesting. I have a good number of friends that are cybersecurity majors so I know what to expect from the major for the most part. I am excited to learn something different. I am interested to see the other aspect of working with computers. Even thought I wont be the one creating the computers and systems I work with, I will be the one protecting them. Some of the courses that I had to take for computer engineering and computer science ended up transferring over to cybersecurity so I am glad about that. At least I do not have to fully restart my college career. I hope that I enjoy my new major. I really hope that I will grow to love it and the jobs that come with it as much as I did with computer engineering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Cybersecurity was not my first choice as my major.
