My name is Bakarri Grant. I am 26 and current serving in the U.S. Navy. I have been in for 6 years as a Machinist Mate First Class, but I’m current planning on getting out and switching fields to cybersecurity. I’ve always had an interest in computers and technology and was enrolled in computer science and technologies in high school. I was even apart of the after-school robotics club where we would build and program, and code robot to compete in competitions. Since being in the Navy my mindset has shifted towards cybersecurity because that is something that I deal with on a daily basis both directly and indirectly. I’m hoping that the cyber program will give me the tools and knowledge to be successful in current and future classes leading to a successful transition out of the military and into cybersecurity.
