Welcome to my page! My name is Jenny, and this is my page for “Introduction to Immunology”. I am currently a senior at Old Dominion University, and should be obtaining my degree in biological sciences in the fall of 2024. Please feel free to look through all the work I have done while taking this course! On this page, two different assignments will be able to be viewed, along with my “End-of-term Reflection,” which is posted directly below this paragraph. The other two assignments are titled, “Pertuzumab: The Monoclonal Antibody Drug to Fight Breat Cancer” (this is the “Find me a -mAb!” assignment) and “T cells and the COVID Vaccine”

END-OF-TERM REFLECTION:

One thing I have learned in this class that helped me make a connection to other coursework is the mechanism behind a vaccine. Specifically, how the two types of vaccines work: the live vaccines and the inactivated or “killed” vaccines. Inactivated or “killed” vaccines work are easier to store, but also how they require booster shots. On the other hand, live vaccines do not need boosters, but the disease may come back. Vaccination is a vital topic of discussion in my area of study as a biology student, and as a future laboratory science student. Learning about the types of vaccines and how they work in our bodies are especially important when considering disease prevention and mitigation of severe side effects of a disease.

Please view the two other assignments below.
