Isaiah Roberts: A Reflection on Interdisciplinary Growth

Welcome to My ePortfolio

Hi, I’m Isaiah Roberts, a student at Old Dominion University pursuing my bachelor’s degree in General Studies with a focus on Library Science. I started my bachelor’s program in August 2026 after working through my General Studies coursework at Tidewater Community College, and I expect to graduate in May 2028. After that, I plan to continue on to a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS).

My career goal is to work in a role where organizing information and helping people go hand in hand, whether that’s as a librarian at a service or reference desk or as a warehouse manager keeping inventory, people, and operations running smoothly. Both careers come down to the same thing: making sure the right information (or the right item) gets to the right person quickly and accurately.

I’ve been working since I was 16, including five years as a paint associate at Lowe’s, running a tech setup and troubleshooting side business, and working in restaurants and youth programs. Outside of work and school, I’m an artist and I’m building my own apparel brand, which keeps my creative and design skills sharp.

What You’ll Find Here

This portfolio shows three skills I’ve built through my interdisciplinary coursework and work experience:

  1. Research and Information Literacy — finding, evaluating, and citing sources from different disciplines
  2. Organizing and Analyzing Information — taking messy information and turning it into something clear and usable
  3. Self-Reflection and Professional Growth — honestly assessing my strengths and building a plan to improve

Each skill has three artifacts from my classes that show the skill in action. You can also view my resume and my reflection essay, which explains how all of this connects to my career goals.
