First off, my name is Robert Randlett, and I’m a junior here at Old Dominion University. I hope to obtain my major in Biology and my Minor in Psychology while I’m here at ODU. I was born in Maryland and have spent some time there over the course of my life, but almost all of my memories are rooted here in Norfolk, which I consider to be my home. Norfolk Virginia will always be my home, but I still have very fond memories of my time in Maryland, which I will always hold onto. For my career aspirations, I would like to obtain either a DDS or DMD to practice dentistry one day. I really want to apply and get into Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in order to attend their DDS program in the next three or four years. After that, I would like to potentially specialize in dentistry even further and become an Orthodontist, but I might change my mind before that. I’m taking this class because I just really like Psychology courses. I have already taken around 5 or so Psychology courses already and I find the field to be very interesting and engaging. There’s a lot to learn about how people react to the group overall, or how an individual’s behavior affects others, which is a tremendously interesting subject to me. Beyond that reason, I also want to become well-versed in Psychology so that I can better help my patients in the future while practicing as a dentist. Empathy is very essential in any medical field in my opinion, so I belive I have a lot to gain from this course, which is also why I’m very much looking forward to it!
