About Me

My name is Steph Chambers and I was raised in Norfolk, VA all my life. Growing up I attended public school for my entire K-12 education and it was there that I first started playing the violin in fifth grade. Having discovered a passion for both music and learning, I dedicated the years that followed to performing music and pursuing my BA in Music Education from Old Dominion University.

When I first started high school though I had the immense privilege of being a part of Strolling Silver Strings, a student led strings ensemble comprised of kids from all of the Norfolk Public Schools high schools, as well as a few who are home-schooled. Every year they travel around Hampton Roads and occasionally the Richmond area and perform an average of 40-60 gigs a year. It was there that I learned how to lead a larger ensemble as an instrumentalist and imbued in me the desire to pursue Music Education as a career in the classroom rather than simply a private studio.

Currently, I’m at Old Dominion University in the home stretch of my bachelor’s degree and honing my musical skills as I enter Student Teaching. I hope to begin taking on private students of my own this coming summer and plan to maintain a small private studio even as a public educator.
