- Offering access to the broader musical community (i.e. Steel Drum, Ukulele, or Harp program for beginners)
- Hold field trips to local community centers to perform (i.e. Retirement homes or Public Libraries)
- Build or contribute to a school culture that values music for more than technical prowess
As I enter the next step of my teaching and learning journey, I aim to stay involved in my local National Association for Music Education (NAfME) chapter as well as connecting with community resources to build a network of support for my music students and school as a whole. A classroom is one of the best places to offer resources of many kinds to families and provides the human connection that is the backbone of any community. It is my goal that after being part of a school for 5 years that my classroom will be an active member of our community as it holds concerts, connects with our local musical community, and that my students will leave with an understanding that music connects us all.
Within the next 10 years, I aim to have earned my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and maintain a system of robust community connections. At this point in my career, I also hope to further involve my self in supporting the families my school serves in whatever way is most relevant to their needs.
