About Me

I’m Theodore “Theo” Urbano currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the Ellmer School of Nursing with an anticipated graduation date of December 2024; I started my DNP journey officially on Spring 2023, but started working towards it in Fall 2021 when I concurrently pursued the adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist post-graduate certificate.  Along the way, I also earned the nurse educator post-graduate certificate in May 2024.

I achieved my undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Florida in 2011 and a Master of Arts in Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2013.  Furthermore, I completed humanitarian assistance graduate certificate from the University of South Florida in 2014.

My current research interests include chronic disease management and lifestyle medicine, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), health and wellness nurse coaching, resiliency and mindfulness-based stress reduction, and staff and professional development.  I served as a Teaching Assistant for NURS 709 in spring 2024 and upon graduating with my DNP, I seek to become an adjunct faculty member for the Ellmer School of Nursing.

I am active duty Air Force currently stationed at the Pentagon serving as the Special Missions Auxiliary Clinic Flight Commander.  I’ve served in various inpatient and outpatient assignments, to include medical/telemetry, inpatient/outpatient pediatrics, pulmonary, perioperative, and quality services, flight medicine, and disease management.
