Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

The biggest reason is that technology is an ever increasing part of society and it is used almost everyday by a large majority of people. With that comes its ramifications, more specifically how we deal with privacy and what we can do to secure that in technology. We input our own personal information into our phones, laptops, gaming devices, and more. I find it important to learn about cyber security to not only secure my own, but help find ways to better secure my friend’s and family in the online world. 

I also find cyber security technology interesting just because I have minimal information about it. I know the classic phishing scams and general internet safety, but besides surface level information, I know nothing. I want to become better knowledgeable about cybersecurity and see how it can help benefit me and may possibly even become a career choice. 

Piggy backing off of the last paragraph, I just want to know how cybersecurity works and the systems in place to enforce it. It’s like wanting to know the inner workings of a watch. I know its a whole bunch of gears that are powered and placed in a certain way. But what are the specifics behind it? What makes it tick? Pun intended. I have this feeling towards cybersecurity and technology in general. 

By being able to learn from this interest, I believe it can help me further appreciate those who work in cybersecurity as well as the systems put in place today to help keep everyone safe. 

I’ve also had a few peers and teachers around me who are really into cybersecurity and one of my classmates actually got hired by a company while still in high school to test the online defense that company has. Almost everyone I know who does something related to cybersecurity is really happy with what they do and that just made me want to learn more about it. Especially with the passion they have when talking about it.
