Psychology is one other major that is offered by ODU that heavily relates to cybersecurity. From the American Psychological association, psychology is the “study of the mind and behavior.” This relates to cybersecurity in the hacking sense. Factors such as linking people, social proof, reciprocation, commitment to hacking, authority as in fabricating identity, and scarcity relate psych to hacking. 

Engineering is another major offered at ODU that relates to cybersecurity. Engineering works on both software and hardware for cybersecurity. They link science and math together to develop solutions to technical problems. Electrical engineers work directly with hardware helping manage and create the circuitry behind servers, or other technical machines used to carry out cybersecurity activities. Systems engineers work with the software side of cybersecurity with how they test operating systems, test system management tools, monitoring as well as managing the systems installed as well as its infrastructure. Basically making sure everything on the software side is working properly in order for functions to work.

Criminal Justice is another major that works alongside cybersecurity. Criminal justice looks at how they detect offenses, almost like identifying cybersecurity risks of an organization. Criminal justice also studies prevention strategies before crimes are committed, similarly to finding prevention strategies before cyber attacks are committed. Criminology investigates the patterns in which crimes are committed, similar to cybersecurity where it aims to see the patterns in which people or systems try to infiltrate other systems. How in cybersecurity, we analyze patterns used to break into systems and find ways to prevent that from  happening

Lastly, computer science is another major offered at ODU that relates to cybersecurity. Computer science usually refers to learning the coding languages that create the software, algorithms, and infrastructure of our technical systems. These systems are what cybersecurity is defending and is also a part of what cybersecurity is. Through using the systems made through computer science, it helps enforce cybersecurity through looking at data and can sort it. Computer Science and Cybersecurity work to help one another, almost like a loop that feeds into each other.
