BIOL 405W

Introduction:

Hello and welcome to my webpage.

My purpose in life is to help people better understand our aquatic ecosystems and the life in them. I want there to be more understanding, respect, and knowledge about one of the most important ecosystems on the planet because of what I was able to teach them.

My name is Alex Howell I am a biology major with a focus in marine biology in my senior year. I am from central Virginia, Lynchburg, Virginia specifically, right near the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. Having completed my associates degree from Central Virginia Community College, with a GPA of 3.5, I transferred to Norfolk to continue my college degree at Old Dominion University where I currently have a GPA of 3.46.

Nature and animals have always been a passion of mine and studying them and their environments has been challenging but immensely rewarding. After going to an aquarium as a child I became enthralled with fish and the oceans, leading to my choice to study biology, and particularly marine biology. I have been an active participant in keeping fish for over 12 years, while I am no rookie when it comes to this, I am still learning new things all the time from my classes. Knowing what I know now, I am incredibly pleased with my choice in major and am beyond excited to join the workforce.

My goals for after graduation include finding a career that will allow me to focus on research and conservation of the worlds shrinking ecosystems. With more and more of the ocean being studied every year, I am confident that I can help further the respect and knowledge that our ecosystems need to continue thriving long into the future.
