Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is a core skill that develops over time and involves how an individual analyzes, evaluates, and processes information. Critical thinking can impact other cognitive skills such as problem-solving, decision-making and information literacy. Critical thinking is essential for cybersecurity professionals in responding to cybersecurity threats and implementing security strategies.

Artifact 1: Search and Seizure Warrant with Affidavit

This artifact from my Cyber Law (CYSE 406) course required me to simulate a criminal investigation regarding drugs while ensuring to include digital evidence. In completing this assignment, I used knowledge from The Criminal Justice System (CRJS 222), Cybercriminology: Foundations (CRJS 310) and Cyber Law (CYSE 406) courses and conducted research into local laws, locations, and police regulations. I had to think about the logical steps a law enforcement officer would take in order to complete the investigation and what type of evidence would result in a judge signing the search and seizure warrant.

Artifact 2: Digital Forensics Investigation Report

In this artifact, I acted as a digital forensics investigator who was investigating a government official suspected of contacting and exchanging information with a foreign individual for money. Combining what I learned from my Cyber Law (CYSE 406) course and my Digital Forensics (CYSE 407) course, I had to think how each step would contribute to a conclusion in which there is evidence against the suspected official. In this artifact, I used my prior military experience and conducted research to create realistic digital evidence that can be used.

Artifact 3: Cyber Tax Policy and Politics Analysis

In this artifact, I analyzed the potential political implications of passing a cyber tax policy. I conducted research on the different political beliefs of various countries and the actual impact of a cyber tax policy that was passed. Using the information I gathered, I assessed whether a cyber tax policy would be beneficial or detrimental in a political sense.
