Cybersecurity Internship

I completed my cybersecurity internship with Huntington Ingalls Industries, Unmanned Systems. During my internship, I experienced several aspects of organizational cybersecurity in the public sector.

Applying Course Knowledge

  • A few concepts I learned in my course work that I applied to my internship were device management, general computer skills, configuration knowledge, and communication/collaborative skills.

Skill Development

Skills I learned while working for Huntington Ingalls Industries:

  • Implementing DoD STIGs
  • Creating standard operating procedures.
  • Introduced to cybersecurity tools like SPLUNK and McAffee ePolicy Orchestrator, and DoD eMASS.
  • Use of a web help desk and experience resolving minor IT and cybersecurity related issues.
  • Introduction to NIST risk management framework and creation of a system security plan.
