The Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program at Chesapeake is a community-based initiative that focuses on providing healthcare services to individuals and families in need. The program takes a team-based approach to care delivery, with a variety of healthcare specialists collaborating to provide patients with complete and coordinated treatments. Working with Chesapeake’s MIH program was a fantastic way to create strong interprofessional team performance. Interprofessional teams are groups of diverse disciplines of healthcare professionals who collaborate to offer patient-centered care. These teams are becoming increasingly significant in today’s healthcare landscape because they can help to improve patient outcomes, lower costs, and improve care quality. MIH utilizes this technique by relying on Chesapeake police, fire, mental health services, public health professionals, and nonprofit community organizations. A variety of healthcare experts, including paramedics, nurses, social workers, and other providers, are employed by the program. By collaborating with these experts I was able to witness a coordinated and comprehensive approach to care that addresses patients’ diverse requirements. Working with the MIH program at Chesapeake helped me acquire the communication and teamwork skills required for effective performance on interprofessional teams.
