Hello, my name is Isaac and I’m interested in cybersecurity because it is a great career path that pays well. It is a very important skill to learn and can lead to many great job opportunities. Although my major doesn’t have to do with cybersecurity (Photography and Print Media), it is still a good field of study to learn and understand. I am still searching for a minor to study and cybersecurity seems like a good field that is always looking for employees so I’m optimistic about learning this subject.
4 majors that relate to cybersecurity
- Computer Science. Computer science relates to cybersecurity because you’re learning about the ins and outs of a computer, specifically software. You need strong software to protect the computer from cyber-attacks.
- Business Majors. Business has become digital in this day in age so making a secure website is key for the business to succeed. The last thing a business wants is important information getting leaked or stolen. Therefore, cybersecurity is important for business majors.
- Accounting. Accounting is important to any business because you’re dealing with money. Money is the key to success in any field and you don’t want it being taken or exposed. Cybersecurity is important in this field due to the increase in tactics by scammers or viruses. With everything going digital, money becomes even more important to protect and cybersecurity will help with that.
- Advanced Engineering. Engineering is pretty broad, but it can relate to cybersecurity. Engineers who create computers have to think about cybersecurity all the time. You want to make a computer that can withstand viruses, bugs, or hackers. Engineering and cybersecurity go hand in hand which makes both career fields important when together. A good engineer needs a good cybersecurity system and vice versa.
