Complete the Social Media Disorder scale to an external site.  How did you score?  What do you think about the items in the scale?  Why do you think that different patterns are found across the world?

According
to DSM, at least five (out of the nine) criteria must be met for a
formal diagnosis of “disordered social media user”

I scored a zero. Social media has little influence on my life. I say this due to everyone has an opinion about something or want to know what is going on in your life. I leave social media for long periods of time only due to it can be too much. Now when it comes to forums, I am constantly looking things up for just random questions on google. Being a first-time mom, I look those things up, but at the same time I have a bunch of books so I can go without. The item on the scale basically identifies those who really can’t leave without social media due to when some platforms go down, some people do not know what to do when it is down. I feel the different patterns are about who you are around and how you were raised; some families do not mind social media being a presence in their kids’ lives. Some even make pages for their babies when they are just born. To each their own. But if you were not in a family that had a bunch of social media then you probably will be more in tune with nature and all that stuff. You will still have social media you just would not rely on it as heavy.
