Technology relates to Maslow’s idea of physiological needs because technology has become so ingrained in most people’s daily lives. In many ways, people could not function normally without technology in the same way they cannot function well without their basic needs. Technology relates to safety needs because technology in itself needs to be secure through standard cybersecurity practices. It also keeps a person safe through electronic safety alarm systems and access to emergency services. Technology plays a role in belonging and love needs through social media. Social media has allowed more relationships to be built and maintained than ever before. For me, technology relates to my esteem needs by allowing me to learn more and feel accomplished when I understand my field of cybersecurity better. Finally, self-actualization needs are often met by technology. The Internet and the networking available through technology allows individuals to fully explore and express themselves to their fullest potential.
