The digital forensic investigator career has many connections with the social sciences. For starters, this job aligns closely with the criminal justice system, meaning that those with careers must be familiar with criminology, legal studies, sociology, and psychology. This allows them to efficiently understand the motives behind hackers, as well as to investigate digital crimes. Since many of these investigators must present evidence in court, they must understand legal procedures enough to make sure their investigation will be admissible to the court. Many cybercrimes have negative societal effects, making this job very important in the realm of sociology. Without digital forensic investigators, cyberspace, and cyber society, would not be safe.
