Lab 2 – Working with Command Line

My Experience on This Lab
This lab was a good way to practice basic Linux file system navigation and management. By following the step-by-step instructions, I became more comfortable using commands in the terminal to move between directories, view files, and make changes.

Key Concepts I Learned
I learned how to work with both absolute and relative pathnames, how to list files in different formats, and how to use commands like cat, file, tail, cp, mv, mkdir, and rm effectively. The lab also reinforced the importance of directory structure in Linux and how permissions can sometimes restrict certain actions.

Challenges Faced
One of the challenges I faced was remembering when to use absolute vs. relative pathnames. I also ran into “Permission denied” errors when copying system directories, which required me to understand the difference between user privileges and administrative access. Despite these challenges, completing the lab improved my confidence with the Linux command line.
