Address the reflection exercises in each of the following sections. For each section, you will need to embed portions of these assignments and activities as artifacts to substantiate your reflection. Then, at the end of each section, include a link to the document or embed it as a PDF.

An Effective Reflection Is

This semester had me in a hurricane of emotions. With coming into this year not knowing what to expect senora Padilla made it really easy to get back in my groove. From the Going over the vocab, to the take home quizzes and questions to help us work on our Spanish speaking. My best work came when we had to make our projects I was really able to let what I learn speak for its self and getting what I needed to do to get the grade I felt I deserved. Above is some proof that it helps As Spanish learner From the hard work I put into assignments over the semester. I learned a lot this semester not only as a student but as a Spanish speaker, It wasn’t easy but I’m eternally grateful that when the opportunity was given I prospered.

Artifacts

At the beginning of the semester we made a video describing ourselves and our families. It was early in the year so our Spanish was a little ridged and rusty so nit probably didn’t sound too well. but I believe if I was given the task to complete it again you would be able to tell that I progressed substantially

Exploring Culture

This semester We were given the opportunity to work and converse with other Spanish speakers and their native origins with talk abroad. Talk Abroad is a virtual exchange service provider connecting students with native speakers from various countries. including France, Germany, japan, and many others!

Engaging in Communities

The importance of engaging in the communities here at old dominion university aren’t extremely important but I would highly recommend that you do so not only to feel on task with your progress in the field of study but to not have to stress about what to do next.

In English, give a brief description of the value of, and importance of, engaging in your immediate community and the global community.

Reflect on your experience and participation in these communities. Include artifacts such as photos, audio/video clips, etc.

Interpersonal Communication

This semester We were given the opportunity to work and converse with other Spanish speakers and their native origins with talk abroad. Talk Abroad is a virtual exchange service provider connecting students with native speakers from various countries. including France, Germany, japan, and many others!

With the speakers I spoke with in my opinion I think I chose the best ones. They understood my questions and what I was trying to say with out questioning my judgement or what I was saying. They made me comfortable to speak with out catching any nervous stutters or sweats and I appreciate and applaud them for that.

Presentational Speaking

We haven’t really presented in class that much but I have been assigned numerous times to read and answer questions on the board by my professor.

we don’t really present that much anymore but when I have the chance to participate in class discussion I try to my best availability to engage and learn in an orderly fashion.

Then, in a paragraph, write a reflection that includes each presentation you completed in which you explain what challenged you and how you grew and overcame those challenges.  What did you excel at? What/how would you do differently next time?

Presentational Writing

In our project up above, the infographic that was a tricky project having to describe remedies and things to take into precaution when you’re feeling sick. So turning knowledge from English into Spanish was pretty tricky but I was able to get the task done and get the grade I got.

The infographic was a step by step process in trying not to sound too repetitive in the sentences for each image I chose. The time it took wasn’t too long the brain power put into it felt like I was doing it for years trying to sound grammatically correct and experienced. This was definitely something I couldn’t have done on my own to so going to the language cent for help made it very easy to comprehend and get it done correctly.

Interpretive Listening

Compared to 101 we didn’t really have any interpretive listening activities. The ones we did have mostly came from lingro learning and those were pretty interesting in many different ways..

We watched a few videos of people interacting in Spanish but not much to reflect on. we would have to talk about them, what they were doing, and who the speaker was referring to. That made understanding conversation easy because it wasn’t a lost scenario, we knew what was going on

Interpretive Reading

My professor would give us a list of common questions to take home and practice, and then the next class we would go over them. She would put them on screen and we would have about 5 to 10 minutes to conjugate the verbs and answer the question in complete sentences. this was one of my favorite things to do because it helped me learn the right way to conjugate which is something I struggle with.

The conjugating verb activity made the course progressively easier as the semester went on not only because it was an easy class participation point but because it made writing papers and assignments easier to understand without the teacher’s help.
