Overview

Throughout my studies in cybersecurity and my work in IT support, I have been developing practical skills that are important for working in technology and security environments. Cybersecurity is not only about protecting systems from attacks. It also involves understanding how systems operate, how users interact with technology, and how to identify potential risks before they become serious problems.

My coursework has helped me learn the technical foundations of cybersecurity, while my work experience has given me opportunities to apply many of those concepts in real situations. Combining both experiences has helped me build a stronger understanding of how cybersecurity works in real organizations.

Artifact: Applying Cybersecurity Knowledge in Real Situations

One way I apply cybersecurity skills is through my work supporting user accounts and system access. Many support requests involve tasks such as password resets, account unlocks, and troubleshooting authentication problems. While these tasks may seem simple, they require following proper security procedures to ensure that accounts remain protected.

For example, when assisting users with account access issues, it is important to verify user identity and follow security guidelines before making changes to their accounts. This helps prevent unauthorized access and protects sensitive information.

In addition to account security, troubleshooting system issues also requires awareness of potential security risks. Identifying unusual behavior, system errors, or login problems can sometimes reveal underlying security concerns that need further investigation.

Reflection

Working in IT support while studying cybersecurity has helped me see how security practices are used in real environments. Many cybersecurity concepts learned in class such as access control, authentication, and system protection appear regularly in everyday technical support tasks.

This experience has helped me develop a stronger understanding of how technology, users, and security all work together. It has also improved my problem solving skills and my ability to approach technical issues in a structured way.

As I continue my education and gain more experience, I plan to keep developing these skills and expand my knowledge in cybersecurity. My goal is to build a career where I can help organizations protect their systems and information from evolving digital threats.
