Professional Goal 1: Enhancing my Research and Data Collection Skills
Another professional goal that I have set myself while pursuing this internship is to enhance my research and data collection skills. The experience of participating in the What’s Up with Teen Marijuana Use Study has provided me with the possibility to realize the importance of the impact that research can have on improving the community’s health. During my entire internship, I will try to learn as much as possible through active participation in the research-related activities, asking questions and gaining valuable information from my preceptor and other members of the team. At the same time, I would like to become more proficient in working with data and understand its role in the decision-making related to healthcare.
Professional Goal 2: Improve My Professional Communication and Leadership Skills
One of the goals that I would like to achieve is to improve my skills in professional communication and leadership. The experience I gained during my internship allowed me to interact with many healthcare professionals, scientists, and partners from the community. This has provided me with an opportunity for personal and professional growth. I am going to continue developing these skills through participation in meetings and working with my team, taking part in all the opportunities to make my contribution. These experiences will help prepare me for a future career in healthcare administration, where communication and teamwork are essential every day.
Professional Goal 3: Gain a Better Understanding of Healthcare Administration
My final goal is to gain a better understanding of how healthcare administration supports research, public health programs, and community outreach. Before starting this internship, I understood the importance of healthcare administration, but I wanted to see how it works behind the scenes in a real organization. I expect to reach this goal by observing how projects are managed, learning how research is turned into community resources, and participating in outreach activities whenever possible. I also hope to better understand the challenges that families and underserved communities face and how organizations like CINCH and EVMS work to address those needs. By the end of my internship, I want to leave with a stronger understanding of the healthcare field and feel more prepared to begin my career after graduation.
