I think the idea of a “human firewall” makes a lot of sense because people can be one of the biggest risks when it comes to cybersecurity. An organization can have strong security systems in place, but those systems can only do so much if someone is tricked into giving away information. One thing that stood out to me from the video was how easily people can share personal information without realizing how valuable that information could be to someone else.
To me, being a human firewall means being more aware of what information you give out and thinking before you respond to something online. Cybercriminals can use phishing and social engineering to take advantage of people instead of trying to directly break through technical security. Something as simple as sharing too much information or trusting the wrong message could give an attacker what they need.
I think this is why cybersecurity awareness is just as important as having security technology. People need to understand that their everyday decisions can either help protect information or create an opportunity for an attacker. The video made me think more about how cybersecurity is not just the responsibility of IT professionals. Everyone who has access to information plays a part in protecting it.
