Mid-Semester Reflection

Study Habits: This semester I am taking Introductory Chemistry, Chemistry lab, Interpreting the American Past,Introductory English, Introduction into Health Professions, and Sociology. I am doing very well inEnglish and my chemistry classes, I am studying harder and working harder to get the grades Iwant. Classes I need help in are definitely history, I had a good grade in the class then I waswrongly marked and the professor has yet to fix it even after reaching out to her. I think I need toreach out to someone a bit higher than my professor just to get this fixed. I do not need help inany other classes, I have brought up all my other grades with mass amounts of studying andtrying new studying techniques. Changes I have made are my studying techniques. I now makeflash cards for all my classes to help me study and this has been extremely beneficial to me

Transition to College: Expectations: I had expectations about college. It would be easy, as long as you were doing the work you would pass the class and it would be a party everyday. These were not factual at all, it isa lot of work and most definitely not a party everyday. I love everything about college however ithas been a confusing transition. I assumed everyone would act as if they were adults but otherpeers here act as if they are still in high school and it is a difficult adjustment. Something that hassurprised me so far is how much money I am spending here. The hardest challenge commuting isdefinitely time management, it’s hard to balance friends, classes, and driving here. I am alsospending a lot on gas due to the climbing gas prices. I personally enjoy commuting because I cango where I want and do not have to worry about walking there whereas my friends have to plan everything so far in advance.

Major: Something about my intended major I did not know before I started was how selective the nursingprogram was. I knew it was hard to get in but I did not know that only about 20 people would getin. My feelings have changed about my intended major, I’d like to focus more specifically onphysical therapy or sports medicine

Connecting to campus: One issue that has occured this semester was me not getting a good grade on my first chemistryexam. I utilized the science tutoring and that helped me feel better about my most recent exam. Ihave a good friend that has been helping me and I have been helping her too. I have not gone toan interest meeting for a club due to the fact I have not found a club that really interests me. I amworking hard to find one that works with my schedule and with my major.
