  • Additional Information:
    • All prospective interns can complete their application online at ywca-shr.volunteerhub.com, then will schedule a Round 1 interview with the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator. They’ll choose a priority department (descriptions below) and do a round 2 interview with the direct supervisor of that department. If chosen, they will sign up for a 16-hour orientation and attend that prior to starting their internship.
    • Areas of internship:
      • Admin Advocacy:
        • Available M – F, 9am – 5pm. Answer phones, assist clients with checking in for appointments, connect walk-in crisis clients with necessary staff, sort/accept Shelter donations, connect interested Shelter clients to crisis hotline for assessment.
      • NFJC Case Management:
        • Must need >450 hours & agree to a minimum of 2 full business days from 9am – 5pm. Assess NFJC clients for their needs, assist them in accessing the services they want, make referrals, work with clients to set goals and track their progress.
    • Shelter/Housing:
      • Available Su – Sat, 8am – 11pm. Assist Shelter staff in getting Shelter guests the items they need, conduct intakes with staff, collect donations from Plume office, assist clients with finding safe housing.
    • Crisis Intervention:
      • Available Sun – Sat, 8am – 11pm. Provide crisis intervention via our crisis hotline and accompaniment to sexual assault medical exams. Agree to 1 12 – 14 hour on-call overnight/weekend shift per month.
    • HR/Finance:
      • Available M-F, 9am – 5pm. Assist HR/Finance team with scheduling interviews, completing onboarding paperwork, processing background checks.
    • Equity & Justice:
      • Available Su – Sat, 8am – 11pm (some tasks in this department can be done remotely!): Assist E&J team with scheduling racial/social justice presentations, research local minority-owned businesses to promote, work with teams to plan & execute cornerstone E&J events.
