Top Five Artifacts

Over the course of this semester, our modules for each chapter included an artifact, or item to archive. In this archived artifact, we were to address a prompt relating to the chapter and provide an image, or a few images, relating to what was discussed and how it relates to the artifact and yourself. Out of 14 modules, there were 12 items to archive. Out of these 12 archived items, I picked five of my favorites to write that I found the most engaging and the links to those artifacts are included below. These items came from a Google Drive folder and have been converted into PDF documents to be able to access and read.

The artifacts I found the most interesting and engaging came from modules 5, 6, 7, 8, and 13. These modules had prompts that were more personal than generic, which I felt better writing about and felt as if I could relate more to that chapter of the course. I prefer to write personally then generically and these modules had artifacts that required us to look back on or into ourselves and our lives and reflect. I enjoy being able to include what I have learned from my family or friends in my reflections and I was able to do just that in these modules and their items to archive. My favorite one to write was module 13, where I wrote about what makes me happy. It never occurred to me how many pieces of my life make me happy, but I found it important to reflect on and discover where my happiness comes from and where it lies. Following in descending order from second place to fifth place, the order for the rest of my artifacts is as follows: 7, 8, 6, and 5. It was hard trying to determine where these other artifacts fell into order, but I determined it based on how personal they were and how outside the box I could reflect on it.

The artifacts presented in each module of this course allowed me to think critically and reflect deeply on my personal experiences and life. The artifacts allowed me to fully understand each chapter and relate to it on a deeper, often more personal, level. I have learned what it means to keep culture at forefront of your mind when meeting new people and keeping cultural differences and sensitivities in mind. What I have learned from the modules, artifacts, and course itself will be beneficial in where I am heading with my future. In my future I am hoping to attend graduate school for counseling and understanding culture and cultural differences is a vital part of a helping professional’s career. It is unethical and inhumane to discriminate against a person for any reason, including differences in culture, and working through this course has given me the opportunity to expand my mindset and realize the importance of culture in our lives.

The images I chose to include all come from my top five artifacts from this class. Each of these images represents an aspect of my life or personality that reflects some of the deeper reflections of myself within the modules. They may appear out of order or misleading when they are taken out of context, but put together with the prompt of each module and they add to the description of who I am.
