For the course project, myself and two other engineering students worked in collaboration to create a lesson plan/class project for 5th graders. We chose to do our project on buoyancy, as it seemed that the class displayed interest in it. The lesson consisted of a 15 minute review of previously taught concepts, 15 minutes of the engineering students  explaining the engineering design process and why it is important, followed by an hour long project. The project itself consisted of the education students and engineering students working in conjunction with the 5th graders to create a raft out of eco friendly materials so that it could hold as much weight as possible, it was interesting to see the kids begin to understand the need for an engineering design process and begin to apply the concepts they had learned on buoyancy to the problem at hand.

Below is the actual presentation used in the classroom for the kids.
