CYSE 450

This class is an ethical hacking class where I learned to use different tools that real life ethical hackers use in their job every day. One such tool we learned about was using the dig tool and nslookup to do digital footprinting, which is where an ethical hacker, or even a real black hat hacker, would find information by looking up the domain name of their target’s website and seeing what other things they might be connected to. That is what assignment 3 linked below is. Another tool we learned about was in Assignment 7 where we were going over cryptography and using hash calculators to check and see if a message had been modified, and even using tools to modify the hash as if we were performing a man-in-the-middle attack. Overall, I learned a lot from CYSE 450 and, although I don’t think I would want to pursue a career as an ethical hacker or penetration tester, I believe that the information I have learned here can help me in the career field I would like to enter, which is network security. If I am able to think like an attacker, then I will be able to better understand how to defend against one.
