Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
During the Fall 2023 semester I had the opportunity to take SPAN311 with Prof. Alvaro. And needless to say she is one of the best professors I have had at Old Dominion. SPAN 311 has taught me to communicate better in Spanish whether it is 1 on 1 conversation or a speech in front of many people. I had the opportunity to write a speech and speak as if I was in front of an audience. I also had the opportunity to explore many different topics of discussion when making my Teritulas and my Pruebas. My oral exams helped strengthen my vocabulary and also memorize transition verbs that I struggled with in the past. Below I have attached my greatest accomplishments throughout the semester.

These are my two Teritulas that I am most proud of because, when doing these I couldn’t look back on what I imagined saying so it forced me to understand the language and what I needed to say in each video. These two videos show me trying my best at answering the questions by memorization. Although I did mess up and have to remember what I wanted to say I did not give up and I tried my best. While doing these videos on Flipgrid my classmates had to respond to my video with their opinions and I enjoyed reading or listening to what everyone had to say, it was a very interactive assignment.
Mi Prueba Discurso:
This video is my greatest accomplishment through out the whole course! This assignment is called Prueba Discurso. The objective was to create a speech explaining that you are running for an electoral position and you are trying to get people to vote for you. I wrote my speech and practiced it several times before recording this video. I understood that I did not have to say everything verbatim from my speech but I did the nest I could to hit every point that I wanted to. While watching the video you can see I look down at my script a couple of times but not too many and even though I did that, its ok because even president’s who prepare a speech have to remember what their points are. Writing this speech opened up a knew level of thinking for me because while this is a global conversations class, I never really thought of how it would be to speak in front of many people in a different language. I am glad I got to experience this now and realized my love for the language.
