End-of-term reflection

The topic on immune system of the skin and intestinal tract was the branch that connected for me in anatomy. Since we recently covered the topic within my anatomy course it was often hard to understand how Peyer’s patches truly worked since we did not go in depth other than it had immune processes. So, it was great to learn that they worked to activate B-cells which result in them secreting IgA which is known as class switching. Then these IgA antibodies can help within the small intestines by preventing any pathogens reaching the bloodstream. This topic specifically helped me within the histology portion as it allowed me to relate the image to its function rather than just memorizing what the Peyer’s patches looked like.
