Reflection
Taking immunology for this semester has been a difficult yet very informative course. One of my favorite things that I have learned from this course is learning the function of cytokines. I am very fascinated by cytokines because they serve as important messengers that alert and direct the immune system towards the site of infection. It was not until taking immunology that I did not understand the importance of cytokines and their functions, highly emphasizing on the significance of cytokines being chemical messengers that not only direct immune cells but regulate inflammation and regulate damage inflicted on human tissue. I believe that it is important that humans understand the existence of cytokines and their existence as they serve an important purpose in helping us fight off pathogens inside our bodies.
