End of term reflection

One important thing I learned in immunology that helped me connect to my anatomy class was how the immune system helps fight cancer. In anatomy, we learned how cancer grows and spreads in the body, but immunology showed me how immune cells like T cells and natural killer (NK) cells try to find and destroy cancer cells. I also learned that some cancer cells can hide from the immune system by using special proteins, like PD-1, which helps them avoid being attacked. This made the anatomy of lymph nodes and other immune organs more meaningful because they play a big role in finding these abnormal cells. It also helped me understand how new cancer treatments, like immunotherapy, work by helping the immune system attack cancer. Learning this helped me see how different parts of biology are connected and gave me a better understanding of how the body works when fighting disease.
