There is a reason why i have chosen cybersecurity as my major when i first came to Old Dominion University. I have chosen my major because I have been so fascinated with technology since I was a kid. One of the first things when it comes to technology was computers. The first thing that comes when it comes to computers is that they have an anti software that protects viruses from invading a computer. Another thing that made me get into cybersecurity is that i also want to protect cellphones as well. For those that don’t know cellphones are portable computers and like the former, they do have options for protection, you can have an anti-virus software and VPNs. Finally, another reason why i am interested in Cybersecurity is because is that there are plenty of jobs that involve Cybersecurity. This includes but not limited to security managements specialist, computer systems analysts, information security analysts, and network and computer systems administrators. These jobs offer a good yearly salary.
There are four programs in Old Dominion University that are relate to cybersecurity. The first is Cybercrime (Interdisciplinary Studies, B.S.). Just like Cybersecurity, this does involve a Bachelor’s degree and also involves computers. This also involves getting into the program if you have completed a Math course. The second is Computer Science, Teaching Licensure (B.S.). This program also has a bachelor’s degree involved. The program, which also involves computers, leads to eligibility for teacher licensure in Virginia and is available only to individuals holding a baccalaureate degree or completing requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. The third program that is related to cybersecurity is Cyber opertations, which is also a bachelor’s program. This program is a complementary discipline to Cybersecurity. The last program related to cybersecurity is Computer Engineering (B.S.COM.E.). This program does talk about security among other things.
