About

Hello, my name is Ja’Quan Odom and I am a Cybersecurity student at Old Dominion University with an expected graduation date of Summer 2026. My academic focus includes networking, cybersecurity operations, and protecting digital systems from cyber threats.

I became interested in cybersecurity because modern organizations rely heavily on secure network infrastructure and data protection. Understanding how networks operate and how attackers attempt to exploit vulnerabilities is essential to defending systems. Through my coursework I have gained hands-on experience working with networking and security tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, Cisco Packet Tracer, and Linux-based systems.

Throughout my studies I have completed labs and technical projects that involve analyzing network traffic, understanding routing and switching concepts, and exploring cybersecurity defense strategies. These experiences have helped me develop problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of how cybersecurity professionals protect systems and networks.

This portfolio highlights my academic work, projects, and technical experiences that demonstrate the skills I have developed while studying cybersecurity. My goal is to pursue a career in cybersecurity or network security where I can help organizations protect their systems, infrastructure, and sensitive information from cyber threats.
