Four different ethical issues that can arrive when storing electronic information about individuals or employees could be privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracies. Privacy would pertain to personal information such as a patient record which would be confidential. The only person that should have access to that file should be healthcare professionals or anyone that the individual gives permission. Problems that could occur is release of confidential information to different companies or corporations that should not have access. Security breaches can happen at any time whether it comes to unintentional or intentional leaking of patient information. Sometimes it can happen without the individuals consent. Individuals can have this occur when updating different applications and agreeing with the terms and conditions. This occurs a lot over social media especially sites such as Facebook. Other security breaches can occur due to other insider threats such as disgruntled employees or employees working with other countries. Other employees may download important information on unencrypted computers which could be accessed by anyone if stolen. A lot of data inaccuracies can occur in the data entry field especially if it is a repetitive set of numbers. When something repetitive occurs and employee can become very complacent when it pertains to properly entering the data. I have encountered this very often coming from a military background. The entries could hold up as a legal document in court and if any inaccuracies are found the company or employee could be held accountable. At a certain point, the operator could start copy and pasting in accurate numbers without confirming the accuracy of the information which can cause serious issues. The consequences that occur with this is the distrust of the operator and a distrust of the health company or corporation in charge of the persons personal information.
