The United States places close on the list for having the best cybersecurity of all the countries in the world. In the US we face a lot of various cybersecurity threats that can range from malware to phishing and impersonations. Daily the average American with a smart device or some connection to the internet can expect to receive random spam, some type of solicitation, or a false email asking for personal information such as social security number, bank account information, physical address, date of birth and so on. As the threats continually grow more Americans look at installing security on their devices in order to protect their files and personal information such as Norton, McAfee, or Bitdefender. As with the US and other countries, probably one of the biggest threats across the world as of now is probably phishing during the pandemic. Since different countries are asking that their citizens stay inside, more are susceptible to being victims of some kind of vaccine fraud, stimulus scam, or loan scam that could persuade individuals to give out their personal information. Other threats that plague the world are the fake media articles and videos that are created to mislead the public. Just three years ago a fake video of former President Barack Obama was showed on air warning of the dangers of the internet and which being aware of trusting certain news sources. Countries such as China may face more threats because a majority of malware originates there. A few years back the US warned against buying from the phone company Huawei because it believed that its phones and other products may contain backdoors so that the Chinese government could spy on Americans. This also included a ban on its hardware as plugging in unauthorized or unsafe devices or components can infect computers and networks.
