Deontology Ethics and Cyberconflict
In analysis of Module 6 we surveyed multiple sources regarding Cyberconflict. In the Case analysis of this module we were to answer the following question:
Is the Cyberwar Trump inherited a just war?
In my case analysis I examined Cyberconflict and the scenarios presented using the perspective of Deontology Ethics. In my case analysis I surmize:
“From the usage of Deontology in analysis of Cyberconflict I argued that sovereign states like the United States have a duty to hold themselves to a higher standard. A standard in which even if they could be negatively impacted, they should not perform unethical duties for a so-called “greater-good”. As a world leader, the United States is looked up in regard to their ethical standard and the use of Cyberwarfare tactics like the ones used in Stuxnet and towards North Korea’s missiles tough performed to protect the United States and its citizens is still wrong. The United States has the moral and ethical responsibility to find an alternate ethical means to prevent conflict that would negatively impact North Korea and the American people. In the end of my Analysis I state: “They have a responsibility to find another way to approach the North Korean conflict, for the American people, for North Korea, and for the World because everyone is watching”(Burnett, 2019).

The examination of this case further embedded personal tenets of ethical responsibility tenets that I hold in raising the level of its need and importance. As a professional that operates in Cyberspace, the actions that I take can have impacts that impact more than just myself and the company that I work for. The importance of taking this responsibility to a the highest level of accountability by seeking better solutions to issues where not even I can argue unethical acts for a “greater good” is much needed in the fields of cyber. I must do my part to execute such sound judgement in my day to day activities no matter what role I operate in.
