IDS 493

IDS 493 is a course that focuses on preparation of an electronic portfolio that displays academic coursework, professional experiences, skills, and projects. This course allows students to reflect on their education journey while displaying their knowledge in a professional format suitable for employers. A valuable concept of IDS 493 is being able to summarize my college experience in a professional narrative. This course allowed me to see how each class prepared me for my career. I believe that I presented my knowledge related to cybersecurity very well. I’m proud of the way I showcased my projects relating to windows systems and management, as it displayed my technical writing skills. If someone was to view only one part of my portfolio, I would direct them to my resume as it summarizes my journey so far as a college student. One challenge I faced in this course is reflecting deeply on my experiences. Writing about my personal growth over the years in college required deep critical thinking and self awareness. I solved this problem by revisiting old coursework, and seeing how each experience contributed to my skill development. With more time I could improve my portfolio by adding more technical projects. Previous cybersecurity courses will support my success in IDS 493 as they provided coursework that can be included in my portfolio.
