About me

My name is Katie Perdue, I am a transfer student at Old Dominion University, and I am majoring in Criminal Justice. I transferred from Randolph-Macon, where I developed my interest in Criminology, as well as from Virginia Peninsula Community College, where I gained an understanding of Sociology and Philosophy. While majoring in Criminal Justice, I am a cybersecurity student with my first academic experience being Cybersecurity 200. This is where I have gained my understanding of the foundations of cybersecurity and NIST.

Cybersecurity is closely related to my profession, as it is interwoven into nearly every facet of society, including criminal activity. Many crimes committed today occur online or have some evidence that is online via camera or some data collected from any source, as well as there are databases and footage that is held within police departments and national databases. While this class specifically may not focus on the legal aspect of Cybersecurity, I find it to still be fundamentally important to gain a basic understanding of the field.
