MUSC 3145 Intro to the Repertoir of Musical Art

Whether music was used to perform religious rites in classical times, record history throughout the Middle Ages, insight deep thought in what it is to be human during the Renaissance, or simply just to entertain people in modern times, music has always played an important role in the human experience. This survey course traced the history of music since musical notation started around the year 1,000 C.E. to modern musical composition in the 20th century by discussing the different characteristics of music developed during the most important musical movements Europe. The instructor spoke of the different types of musical instruments that exist, as well as teach them proper etiquette for assisting an orchestra concert.  Ample vocabulary was also given to understand the differences between the studied musical movements. Below is a sample of a vocabulary list I studied in the course. While it is just a small sample, I believe it represents important information that molded my thinking process in the beginning of my university studies.
