I have never heard of the NICE framework, but it seems like an interesting tool to use for my future endeavors. From the looks of it, the most likely use for my status as a student would be to use it for job searching. Picking a direction to go into based on the work roles makes my decisions more precise and will help me with resume crafting. The Cybersecurity workforce requires a lot of work experience before getting into the higher paying jobs, so learning skills from the Implementation and Operation category is the most conducive to that mindset. Participating in Technical Support and Admin skills will land a good entry level job to start off. This will then give me the groundwork for developing skills for later jobs that interest me more while being easier to pick up. The Protection and Defense category interests me since I have had an interest in blue team work ever since choosing the cybersecurity field. Insider threat analysis seems like one of the most promising skills since working with law enforcement has been an interest of mine ever since I was younger. In the same vein, the digital forensics field’s action of collecting evidence to form conclusions fits my skill set. Due to my interest in working in Cybercrime, the category that interests me the most would be Investigating. Compelling digital evidence is the more in-depth version of what I explained above. Using DFIR tools like Autopsy and Velociraptor in real life applications has been one of the activities that I looked forward to the most when choosing Cybersecurity. The Oversight and Governance category interests me the least because a managerial role at this moment in time is not something that appeals to me. I want to be more active in the day-to-day workload at the start of my cybersecurity career. Developing education and curriculum are of the least appealing tasks that I can see on the whole website.
