Hello everyone, my name is Kurt Williams, and I am a Cybersecurity major in my Senior year at ODU. I earned an associate’s degree in cybersecurity from Tidewater Community College in the spring 2024 semester. I am now at ODU to earn a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity and will graduate in May 2026.

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida but I have lived and worked in Virginia since 2012. I’m a die-hard Jacksonville Jaguars fan, and even though they’ve historically been a terrible team I think they’re finally starting to turn things around. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, and fishing as well a gaming with my friends and family.

As I complete my degree requirements for a bachelor’s in cybersecurity, I hope to learn more about how various human factors affect the cybersecurity field. A great classroom experience requires making topics engaging for students to learn even when the topic can be technically challenging. Knowledgeable professors who are willing to innovate and reach out to their students respectfully and professionally are also a huge benefit. Students who are also willing to learn and grow alongside their peers is also a huge plus. I look forward to learning and growing my knowledge and skills to become a cybersecurity professional!

Professional Highlights

• Currently lead a team of five US Air Force (USAF) analysts conducting target systems analysis and target vulnerability studies on foreign military capabilities in INDOPACOM.
• Multiple successful deployments to CENTCOM as an All-Source Targeting Analyst and Team Lead in support of counter-terrorism missions.
• Led a section of twelve USAF analysts as a production manager, providing guidance, mentorship, and subject matter expertise to teammates from various backgrounds and levels of experience.
• Conducted daily analysis on external threat networks in high-threat Areas of Influence (AOIs), provided timely intelligence to forward-deployed units, and presented findings in daily briefings to unit OIC (O-6 level).
