Leadership Lecture Series
Over the course of two semesters, I participated in a remarkable series of webinars called the Leadership Lecture Series. During these webinars, which took place over Zoom calls, I was able to connect with many other individuals in an array of various conversations that stemmed from financial literacy to life wheel assessments and engaged with guest speakers who shared their personal knowledge of how they became successful leaders. I was able to share my knowledge, and discuss solutions to problems specific problems I have overcome and received feedback from others.
The most notable and relatable to my immediate future was our session regarding a career assessment. This assessment, called the Strong Interest Inventory, developed a profile of what career interests I show based on my answers to the Likert-style questionnaire. My results consisted of my top three interest areas out of six career classifications and provided an extensive list of occupations and college majors I am likely interested in and even similarly, disinterested in. Additionally, I received a summary of my personal style in learning environments, leadership and work style, risk-taking, and team orientation. This aspect of the questionnaire was very helpful information for me to obtain because I am graduating in pursuance of my Master’s degree and learning these elements about my preferences can help me progress as a student as I move on to graduate school. Knowing my preferences are really convenient because it helps assure that I am pursuing a career that fits my personality.
