Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level
relates to your experiences with technology. Give specific examples of
how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.

Above is the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. While the original creation of the hierarchy was not intended to relate to the digital experiences of society. The overall social need for technology now goes hand in hand with the above hierarchy. Beginning with the bottom of the pyramid the physiological needs are able to be compared to that of losing power or the internet going down in one’s home. When this occurs most people have an ill reaction to the fact because of the negative impact it has on our function with technology.
The next layer, safety needs, is very straightforward in the sense of when one has technology handling important information there must be security measures in place. This level can refer to cybersecurity as a whole. Not as straightforward, but growing every day is how the use of social media can be related to belongingness and love needs. With the use of social media people are able to join communities and have a sense of belonging when a post, picture, video, or song does well through the use of social media.
Coupling with social media further, the presence one has on social media can also affect one’s esteem needs. When a piece of content that one gives out to their social media following does very well this will help one’s self-esteem rise. However, if the piece of content fails to meet that threshold one’s self-esteem could also be lowered. Finally, at the top of the pyramid, self-actualization with technology comes from the hobbies and interests that are able to arise from the use of technology. Not meaning social media is exclusive but uses technology to create art through digital software and then uses social media as a method to share the art that was created. Thus fulfilling one’s potential.
