The motive that makes the most sense is ranked at number 1, being multiple reasons. Number one and two were very close to each other for first place. Money makes the world go round therefore it makes sense as to why someone would resort to crime in order to gain money. However, I feel that crime is unique in every case and while there might be a strong motive for revenge or financial gain it makes sense that there would be multiple different reasons why someone resorted to crime.
My next ranking was political. Politics is a very powerful factor therefore it makes sense as to why one would commit a crime for the sake of politics or make a political statement. Under politics I have revenge. Revenge is another one that is self-explanatory as to why someone would commit a crime with that motive. The reason why I ranked it where I did is that I feel a lot of people can get ‘revenge’ without breaking the law. Therefore I put revenge in the middle of the ranking because there is a lot of grey area within that motive.
While I am aware that criminals commit crimes for the sake of recognition I do not believe it deserves a high ranking on this list. There are many other ways to gain recognition therefore why resort to crime for it? Next on the list is entertainment. While there is an area of gain with the criminals and their crimes I feel entertainment is the reward for the boredom motive which is why I ranked them both at the bottom and had the reward above the cause.
