I found the above article to be very interesting and explained a valuable viewpoint. When discussing traditional cybersecurity, the focus is on the technology that is being used to hack other forms of technology. Whereas the main center of this article was social cybersecurity. Social cybersecurity focuses on how humans will use technology in order to ‘hack’ other humans rather than their information systems. The article then goes into depth on what exactly it means to ‘hack’ another human and break into their cognitive cycle. Along with how this form of social hacking can be prevented and in some cases how it could be useful. Many good resources and examples were provided in this article in order to give a clear picture of what social cybersecurity is and why it is very much needed in today’s society.
